A fountain, a statue of Queen Vic, some Bangkok ladyboys, is there anything this park doesn't have? After a big renovation during the pandemic, with new paths and surrounds, it's a city dog-walker lunchtime classic

4. Preston Park
Brighton's biggest urban park, boasting rare elm trees, the dog-friendly Rotunda Café and the massive Pride party, you will eventually visit Preston Park and you will enjoy it. As will your dog, with 63 acres of grass to gambol about in.

An absolute maze of a park, with a range of woods (elms), ponds, paths and plants to explore. You'll find something new on every visit!

2. St. Nicholas Rest Garden
Off the beaten track, if you find your way to these burial grounds you're in for a treat (unless you have died). The above-ground tombs contain a wealth of deceased Brightonians, about whom you can learn about on the excellent Brighton Mortiquarian website

1. Royal Pavilion Gardens
A park fit for a king is surely fit for your dog. The most central and most famous of all Brighton's parks, it's home to a café and a fancy palace, more elms and depending on the weather, hordes of Brighton folk catching rays and shade. A must visit!
